RockMelt: a new browser "social" that facilitates FocusWriter
RockMelt is based on Chromium and is the first project of a startup in Mountain View that has the backing of some heavyweight industry, such as Marc Andreessen, who was one of the leading creators and engineers of Netscape. Advertise Here
sure many of you may ask, what we really need yet another browser more?, is there enough market to accommodate all the players? For the truth is that with the months we have answers to these questions, but what RockMelt proposed is a change in how the browsers know so far.
RockMelt: The "pillars" of the browser
RockMelt
looks very similar to Google Chrome, but with a few additions that are the basis of its existence. As you can see a video presentation on both sides of the window bars vertical paths become the center of our experience.
The left is reserved for our main contacts in Facebook, so that we know all times who is online, chat with them directly from your browser toolbar and share any content with them with a couple of clicks. Similarly
works right column, but in this case it can add any RSS feed, other social networks like Twitter and shortcuts to services such as GMail. What is interesting about these cases is that there is also a notification system so that every time we have a new article, comment on Twitter or e-mail as we can see right through that bar.
Another way to find another way to socialize and
Another RockMelt things done differently from what we've seen so far the search. As you can see in the video, when looking for something we face directly the first 10 results and clicking on them will appear in the background, like a kind of preview in question. This has the advantage that we can navigate through the first ten results without having to go backwards in the browser, but it is also true that change the way people search for things online is very difficult at this point.
Without having the chance to try it personally, most reviews that have appeared so far in American media say that shipping is very quick and in that sense it falls short of its competitors. What now need to know is if users are willing to incorporate a new browser to their day to day and if RockMelt take off with all the great forces that surround it.
Of course, the idea is innovative and at these times in which many social is primary in their day to day, these projects are very interesting. At present requests are allowed to participate in private beta, but yes, you can only sign up for it through Facebook Connect and profile.
